What is Bible Café?

Bible Café is an exciting, integrated Bible Teaching Programme, held on Wednesday nights in term-time. We gather for coffee and cake at 7.30 pm, ready for the teaching from 8 pm to 9.30 pm. We have an exceptional team of lecturers, who each lead a three-week module every term.

 

Who is it for? Anyone! Please bring a Bible and pen

 

Cost: Discounted price of £7 per term (9 weeks: 3x Theology, 3x Ministry & 3x Apologetics) if you sign-up prior to commencement of each term, otherwise £1.50 per session (payable on the evening)

Who teaches what?

Gordon Haddow  




Gordon Haddow


Gordon leads our School of Theology. He is a Chartered Engineer, has a Masters Degree in Engineering and works with a local technology company developing new electronic products for industrial safety and the emergency services. He also studied theology with Regents Bible College as part of the Elim Church Training Programme and has experience in many areas of church leadership including small groups, administration, church planting and eldership. Gordon occasionally preaches at the Elim Christian Centre and enjoys the challenge of taking a difficult subject and making it accessable to all.

Gareth heads up our
School of Apologetics.  He is a medical Doctor, who has for a number of years been involved with SYM (Schools and Youth Ministries in Chelmsford). He leads many lessons and assemblies in local schools. He is also the Youth Pastor here at Elim, and has a passion for communicating the truths of the gospel within the context of today’s ever-changing world. He is a highly gifted Apologist, keeping us up-to-date with how to present Jesus in the light of a multi-cultural and a multi-faith society.

Pat Kennett


Pat heads up our
School of Ministry. Following her degree in Theology, she worked as a Junior School teacher in local schools. She later trained and worked for 10 years as a Counsellor, working with individuals, couples and church leaders. An experienced Women’s Conference speaker, she has also led many seminars, locally and regionally. Pat was one of the original Bible Café lecturers, before taking over the Team Leadership of Bible Café in July 2007. Her passion is to facilitate and encourage the giftings of all believers, enabling them to understand their significance and security in Christ.
